My meaning of glitch

Throughout my time in the gaming industry there have been a lot of games that have been hyped. Games like Overwatch or Call of Duty, but in my experience the game that has been hyped up the most has been Cyberpunk 2077. The game was announced in 2012 and had its first trailer in 2013, but the game would not be released until December of 2020. The game looked amazing and made incredible promises, but once it finally released it was in a barely working state. The game was a complete disappointment because of its beta like state when it was released, and therefore it had so many glitches that the creators still have not patched most of them.

The main glitch that will completely break the flow of the game and can be done as soon as the player is released into the world, is the item duplication glitch, which also leads to infinite money. According to Menkman “ glitch has no solid form or state through time; it is often perceived as an unexpected and abnormal” (Menkman 340). Menkman’s definition is almost the same as mine. The first time this glitch happens it definitely distorts the flow of the game. But, from my point of view even after the first time, the disruption of the game is still known as a glitch because it allows the player to enter a state of the game which was not intended by the creators of the game. With the duplication glitch the player has access to infinite money and can from level one acquire top level gear that would not be normally possible. The glitch also allows for multiple versions of unique items that can also create interesting scenarios. Overall this glitch allows for the player into enter a state that would normally not be possible and allows for a variety of different gameplay that is not in the original flow of the game.
